It removes EXIF, XMP, IPTC, and comment blocks from JPEG files.

Is it safe to share photos with EXIF data attached?

EXIF data itself isn't dangerous, the risk depends on what's attached and who can see it. GPS coordinates in particular can reveal your home or frequently visited places.

Do Instagram and WhatsApp remove EXIF data automatically?

Instagram strips GPS and camera data from public posts, but not reliably from DMs. WhatsApp's photo mode removes most metadata, but sending a file as a document preserves all of it. The safest approach is cleaning it yourself before sharing.

What can EXIF data reveal about me?
